Abrigo Advocates
ABRIGO:
where one is sheltered from elements or harm
CASA First ‘Abrigo Advocates” provides any trauma-impacted or system-involved infant,
child or youth from Santa Fe, Rio Arriba or Los Alamos counties with a highly trained and dedicated advocate.
Abrigo Advocates are volunteers who are matched with children and youth who have been impacted by trauma or are system-involved. Abrigos, through a consistent and supportive relationship, will help children and youth find the resources and services they need, assist with practical life functions, create community connections and more. Our goal is to meet our youth or child where they are and guide them accordingly.
If you are 21 or older and want to ensure youths' wellbeing and success, please reach out and learn how to be trained as an CASA First Abrigo Advocate.
After many requests and much planning, we are finally offering a separate Abrigo Advocates training. This training/volunteer position is perfect for those with busy schedules who still want to be an advocate for a child or youth in Northern New Mexico.
